[48:21]  1 sn The translation above (present tense) assumes that this verse describes God’s provision for returning Babylonian exiles (see v. 20; 35:6; 49:10) in terms reminiscent of the Exodus from Egypt (see Exod 17:6).

[49:19]  2 tn Heb “Indeed your ruins and your desolate places, and the land of your destruction.” This statement is abruptly terminated in the Hebrew text and left incomplete.

[52:9]  3 tn Or “redeems.” See the note at 41:14.

[61:4]  4 tn Heb “and the formerly desolate places they will raise up.”
